“The vision I have of County Donegal is based on quiet places which are overlooked in the grand scheme of things. My paintings are about laneways and tracks, country roads with verdant hedgerows, rock pools and stream, passing squalls and scudding clouds.
“I record the reflected images and moist vegetation shimmering and sparkling in soft light. These are the places with their rich palette of colour that speak to me of the county I now call home. I paint with brush and palette knife to build layers of colour and texture in an effort to capture this unique sense of lushness and fertility.
“I paint places we all played in as children which were full of wonder then and as I return to them now I rediscover their magic.”
