• South Donegal. A work in progress.

I thought folks might be interested in how my paintings develop and the things that inspire me so each week I will take you through my latest painting of Donegal Ireland.

I started on this one today. Again back to the Boglands of Donegal and we'll see where it takes us.If paintings want to be painted they will help you if they don't they will break your heart. I found this wee gully on the road between Carrick and Glencolmcille and opened out the still water to get a better composition. These places fascinate me. There are lots of these drainage ditches at the edges of the bog and they create little environments where ferns, heather, grasses, foxgloves and other wildflowers thrive. If you can send me bogland memories of cutting turf, or playing on the boglands I'd love to hear them. I know about the 'wee tea' and the water bottles stuck into the bog face to keep them cool and the kettle full of boiled eggs. So send me your memories and help with my research.

Welcome to my blog

I have been painting the area of South Donegal for the past 6 years. It is a place that I love with a passion. I can lose myself and find myself there. I thought you would like to join me on a journey which is so far from the stress and strain of this increasingly complicated world.
